Porto Montenegro is one of the most ambitious destination real estate projects delivered in the Mediterranean in the last two decades. Oliver Corlette led the project as founding Managing Director for eleven years — from the acquisition of an 85-hectare former Yugoslav naval base in the Bay of Kotor to the eventual sale to the Investment Corporation of Dubai, the sovereign wealth fund of the Government of Dubai.
The opportunity began with a conviction: that the natural depth of the harbour, the protected character of the Bay of Kotor, and proximity to Italy, Greece and Croatia made this one of the most underdeveloped superyacht locations in Europe.
Oliver was responsible for every aspect of the development — site acquisition, rezoning, financing, the establishment of a 300-strong management organisation, and the design, delivery, sale and operation of the full mixed-use programme.
Across eleven years the project delivered more than 250 residences, 50 retail stores, a 450-berth superyacht marina, the 5-star Regent Hotel & Residences, a Knightsbridge boarding school campus and associated restaurants, beach club and cultural amenity.
Porto Montenegro is today regarded as one of the leading superyacht destinations in the Mediterranean.
The unique process of building it over more than a decade has shaped the operating discipline, partnership philosophy and conviction in destination-led mixed-use real estate that now sit at the centre of Black Mountain Partners.
